3:15pm – 4:15pm
Room: Lord Provost
This session, supported by the IEEE Young Professionals Advisory Committee, will focus on sustainability and the role of photonics in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Designed for attendees within 15 years of earning their first degree, as well as advisors leading related programs and initiatives, this session provides a unique opportunity for meaningful intergenerational discussions. Mentor Match participants are especially encouraged to attend.
Engage in an interactive activity where groups will be assigned SDGs and collaborate to discuss photonics-based solutions to combat global challenges, such as climate change. Attendees will explore how cross-disciplinary teamwork between engineers, scientists, educators, and social entrepreneurs can accelerate real-world solutions. The goal of this session is to provide valuable insights and inspire ‘future thought leaders of tomorrow’ to leverage photonics for a more sustainable future!
